Chess

Today we did some chess in the morning. I faced Alana it was a short first game but the second game was horrendous it was half an hour but in the end Alana had won it. So far this year in chess on the Leaderboard I have ended in 14th place that is the end of my last blog post for this year.

My favourite part of the year was doing fibonacci numbers and a bees life.  The most challenging part of my year has been the technology challenges and the must dos and picks.  I am hoping that next year we do less must dos and picks because I find them hard!

Week 5

Today we started the day with a Wilson game, kind of like Piccadilly Circus. We continued with our passion time. Kyle and I did an experiment to make a lava cup.  You need a 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, food colouring, one tablespoon of salt and water.  The salt would fall through the oil, and create air bubbles that moved up towards the surface.  After morning tea I did my must do's and picks. The must do I did was flower biology.  I used a dinoscope to look at the parts of the flower and how they reproduce. At lunch we played dodgeball. The score was 8 to 8. I have just got my blog finished and next I am doing must do's and picks.

Waihopai river planting

Today we did planting at the Waihopai river. We got there on a bus and then we walked to the planting place. We had planted 250 flax bushes. We did them on hill and the muddy ground. We were there from 9:15 to 11:50. You had to put a mat around the flax then put 4 Bamboo sticks in the 4 holes on the mat then put this  plastic maroon bag over the plant to keep it warm inside. We came back and had lunch and now I am doing my blog post.

Week 2 at Enrich

Today we started with passion time I did chemistry with Kyle and Hyrum. First we did an experiment called "Eating Nails for Breakfast". You had to get some cornflakes, a plastic bag and water. Next, you crunch up the cornflakes and put them in a plastic sealed bag.  Next put some water in the bag and let it set for 5 minutes. Then you get a magnet and you will see iron flakes. After that we had morning tea and then played chess. At 11.30am we did Must dos and Picks. For that I did a garden design. Then it was time for lunch and now we are doing our blog post.

Week 10

Today at Enrich we started off as normal and we played some chess. I did not move up or down the leader-board. We continued with our passion time. I did some chemistry with Kavarn. We started making our ice cream ball. We got the idea for it off Steve Spangler Science.  You had to put some ice in a plastic bag, then put some rock salt in as well.  In a separate bag you put in milk and vanilla essence and 2 tablespoons of sugar.  YOu put it on the ground, and then roll it around until the milk mixture goes solid.  We put it in the freezer and will check on it shortly.  After that we had a break.  We did some more passion time for another half an hour then we did a P4C rotation in 3 groups.  Our question today was "It it ever okay to pollute?" We had lunch after that and now I am doing my blog and next I am finishing my environment project with Kyle.  Today we are finishing our brochure for Thompson's Bush.

Week 9

Today at 9.15am we played chess for 30 minutes.  I played Kyle and he won.  Then we did our environment projects.  My group finished our Keynote about Thomson's Bush.  I did a page on the predators you need to look out for.  After morning tea, we watched a clip about air pollution.  We learnt that Iran has quite a few cities that have a lot of air pollution.  Ulaan Bataar in Mongolia  is the second most polluted city in the world.  The cleanest city in the world is Wellington!  We were surprised that we have the cleanest city in the world!  We looked it up on the computer, and it said that China had the most CO2 pollution, but they were not included in the clip we watched about the 10 most polluted cities in the world.  We played a Wilson game after lunch called Piccadilly Circus.  You stood in a circle and we had to pass a ball around the circle by running to another person and giving it to them.  You couldn't give it to the person right beside you, or else you would have to start again.  Once you got the ball, and gave it to another person, you sat down.  We tried playing it with 1 ball - our time was 1.08min.  We played it with 2 balls - our time was 1.35min.  Then we played it with 4 balls and our time was 2.02min.  We tried a second round with 4 balls, but we all got muddled!  Now that I'm finished my blog, I can go onto passion time.  I am going to do some painting.
